National Novel Writing Month (NoNoWriMo) is here! It’s an exciting time that forces you to spit out 50,000 words on a novel in just 30 days. I participated last year and came out of it with a completed novel (after an additional 10 months of revision and editing) – Sympathetic Resonance, which I would be publishing this month if it weren’t NaNoWriMo.
Had a great 1st day! I was ready and waiting last Monday night. I had my outline and my character sketches (although I’m still missing a key character’s name) all ready. I dutifully waited until the clock read 12:00 and then I started writing. I then wrote more in the evening and got in 4,096 words on day 1!
And then I got strep throat. And I managed about 400 words on Wednesday and 1,000 on Thursday. Sigh.
That’s ok…being a write isn’t supposed to be easy and I’ll push through this and I will make my 50,000 words in the next 26 days!
Theoretically, the NaNoWriMo folks will have a Word Count widget available soon. When it is, I’ll put it on the top of this page so that you can see my current word count and send me a virtual kick in the ass if I need it!
